Workshop Programs:
Working towards self fulfillment
CHATTM (Creating Healthy Adolescent Thinking): We work to build emotional intelligence, regulation, and teach our young scholars how to direct and control thoughts, and manage impulse control and reactions. Elements of CBT are applied within this workshop. A key element of this program are deep probing discussions to help develop problem solving skills.
Uncuff The Mind: Fostering positive psychological growth and discovering a sense of purpose are imperative in understanding one's self. Scholars identify their strength and learn coping skills and strategies to manage their emotions. Consequential thinking challenges applied to help them realize that opening up their mind to all possibilities is key to taking on the world. Elements of CBT are utilized in this workshop.
Building Interpersonal Relationships: Defining and identifying healthy vs unhealthy relationships is a launching platform to navigating positive life social interactions. This workshop starts with that and then expands with setting boundaries, teaching effective communication skills, understanding peer support vs peer pressure, and building social skills.
Self-Esteem And Empowerment Groups: Life can seem bleak without self confidence and self-worth. In the age of social media and self isolationism it can be worse. This workshop aims to counter these issues by discussing the influence and impact of social media and understanding the world is more than a computer. Further by building a positive self-image and developing and understanding tactics to respond to bullying.
Creative Expression Workgroups: Fostering a healthy outlet to process and convey your feelings is key to to mental wellness. With this we focus on creative writing, dance, painting, sculpting, photography and music in order to channel our scholars emotions through positive, creative and artistic expression. It's a calming and joyful way to get our scholars who may not be ready or able to directly relay their feelings to share what is deep inside.
Life Skills Development: Learning goes beyond the classroom with imperative lessons that are not always taught in a young scholastic setting. Basic financial literacy, career choice exposure (explore externship and internship opportunities when appropriate), building self-discipline, money management, goal setting and learning cost/benefits of decision-making are paramount in having a successful life after school. This shop merges these lessons together in order to mold a well rounded individual.
Boxing: Let's improve physical health, build confidence and self-esteem, build muscle memory, work through stress in a gratifying, focussed, and safe manner, build mental fortitude. We want to train the body with the mind for a holistic approach to a better well being.
Chess: Scholars learn strategies, discipline, and patience. Chess is not only a game, but also a life lesson. With chess we train the individual to think of all possibilities beyond what is in front them and bring forth kings and queens.
